Ants live in busy communities called colonies, where every ant has an important role. Some ants gather food, some care for the baby ants, and others help protect the colony. When people care for nature by keeping the ground clean and protecting places where animals live, ants and many other creatures can thrive. To learn more about ants, visit: Britannica Kids- Ants

Have you ever watched a line of ants working together? Even though each ant is small, everyone has an important job. Can you think of an important job you have in your family?
-
Ants work together to care for their home. This week, choose one way to help your outdoor community. You can water a plant that needs it, stay on paths to protect tiny homes in the soil, or help keep your yard clean. Every small act of care helps nature thrive.

Forests are like communities where living things depend on one another. Trees share nutrients and information through underground networks of fungi called mycorrhizae. Animals help spread seeds, insects help pollinate plants, and plants provide food and shelter for many creatures. When forests are damaged by pollution, climate change, or habitat loss, many living things lose the connections that help them survive. Protecting forests means protecting the many communities that depened on them, including people. To learn more about forests, visit: Britannica Kids- Forests

Forests work like a team where the trees, animals, fungi, and plants all work together and support one another. Have you ever been part of a team where everyone helped each other?
-
Forests stay healthy because many living things work together. Think of one way you can care for your community this week. You might save and reuse paper to protect trees or show kindness to a neighbor or friend.

A watershed is an area of land where rain and streams flow into the same river, lake, or ocean. Every part of a watershed is connected, so what happens upstream affects the people, plants, and animals downstream. Pollution, flooding, and climate change can harm entire communities, while healthy forests, wetlands, and clean waterways help protect everyone. Caring for a watershed reminds us that our wellbeing is connected to the wellbeing of others. Imagine dropping one small pebble into a pond and watching the ripples spread. Our choices can have a ripple effect too. Have you noticed something in our community that affects something else?
-
Everything that enters a watershed can affect the people, plants, and animals who depend on it. This week, choose one action to help protect your local environment, such as picking up litter before it reaches a storm drain or reducing the use of single-use plastics, like straws. As you practice your habit, think about how your choices create positive ripples for both nature and your community.
