Tree of Life Creative Journaling Exercise

The “Tree of Life” creative journaling exercise is our adaptation of a narrative therapy tool that helps people reflect on their hopes, values and strengths. Trees and their knowledge hold a special place in our hearts at the Root Cause Collective. We hope this nature-inspired practice brings you a sense of wisdom, stability and growth.

Have you ever drawn a tree of life?

Dandelion Breath Exercise

The Dandelion Breath is a delightfully simple breathing exercise that can be used to calm your mind and build confidence. Try this the next time you need to release some worry:

Relax your shoulders and face.

Imagine a dandelion flower.

Take a deep breath in and hold it for a moment.

Exhale slowly, sending the seeds (worries) into the air.

Repeat at least 3 times or until you feel yourself relaxing.

Optional: You can add to this practice by sending a wish (for yourself or others) out with each exhale.

What is a promise you made to yourself? Traditionally this time of year involves reflecting on lessons from the past and setting intentions for the future. We invite you to take some time to think about what you truly want for your life, what brings you happiness and what you want to change. Then, write your promise(s) down and place them somewhere as a reminder. Keep these promises to yourself by making an action plan, telling someone else and believing that you're worth it
